Have successfully installed OS X Lion after resizing install partition to 15GB. I don't know why it was not working on bigger partition, say 80GB, but it has installed now. With bigger install partition the installer displayed an error indicating that disk is currupted. It might be caused by thin-provisioned virtual disk. Thick-provisioned virtual disk may work properly but it needs verification.

As per recommended virtual hard disk needs to be less than 40GB. With virtual disk of 30GB, OS X Lion installation was done without errors.
After installation, partition can be expanded.

When installation process try to reboot after initial installation, hit ESC key at startup to go into EFI menu. In EFI menu, manual selection to boot.efi file in the installation partition of hard disk required to proceed installation. Automatic reboot was not working properly.
